LWENSHI MEETS WITH FINNISH AMBASSADOR, HER EXCELLENCY PIRJO SUOMELA-CHOWDHURY

Lwenshi Limited had the courtesy to meet with Finnish Ambassador her excellency Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury. We had a fruitful meeting where we thanked the Ambassador personally at our offices for the procurementmore of a new delivery truck and several productivity tools that will help the company grow and expand. We also recognised that this grant did not only benefit the company but also the surrounding community. Lwenshi Limited has employed several local people in its sanitation projects; this has improved the quality of life in these localities as they would otherwise be on the street had they not been employed by us. With every project we take part in, we ensure that a healthy mixture of locals and foreigners are engaged in the project to allow for skills transfer to occur during the project. Locals can learn new skills such as handling different types of equipment and operating machinery such as Excavators, TLBs, Bobcats or even just driving a delivery truck with equipment in the back. These might seem like small skills to learn for locals, but it goes a long way in enhancing their employability as other companies can tap into such skills that Lwenshi has taught them. This training and skills transfer not only helps locals but helps the company as well by creating a talent pool of workers we can tap into whenever new projects are underway. In addition, Lwenshi Limited is an equal opportunity employer. As discussed with AGS and the Finnish Embassy. We employ female workers, disabled workers and older workers. As long as they are willing and able to do the work, Lwenshi has no problem giving them the job. This practice also ties in with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable development goal number 5 and number 10 (Gender Equality and Reduced Inequality). This includes other goals Lwenshi has taken part in such as Goal 6, Goal 8 and Goal 9. Find out more here https://sdgs.un.org/goals Lwenshi Limited is a committed player in the energy and infrastructure sector that seeks to develop more such partnerships and receive more grants that will enrich the lives of Zambians as well as grow and expand the company. Therefore, fulfilling two missions; the governments mission which is to ”Foster accelerated national development that empowers every Zambian citizen” and Lwenshi’s mission which is “to become the supplier of choice of core services to the mines, while improving employee welfare, acknowledging environmental responsibilities, and empowering local population. We would like to thank AGS Programme Zambia as well as the Embassy of Finland Lusaka https://finlandabroad.fi/web/zmb/mission for their continued support.
